Nang Yai Shadow Puppet Theater

Nang Yai shadow puppet play is an art form of traditional Thai drama, a combination of different jobs in one. Much attention goes into the design of complex and detailed design of the characters, which is made from a master of art. Once the design is done, it is applied to a piece of leather and embossed with a lot of attention. Subsequently, the etched piece of skin mounted on sticks and the life of each character by a master puppeteer, in the form of a specificperformance of classical drama, filled with live music and Thai singer to provide the narration.

The shadow Nang Yai puppet theater was founded in Khanon WatRatchaburi during the reign of Rama V. Today, in Thailand, Wat Khanon is the only site for this important art form. Even today a lot of effort goes into the preparation of puppets and actors, their high standard of performance. The theater group Khanon outside Wat in Thailand and are greeted with much enthusiasm by the public.
